Comprehensive vision & eye health exams for the entire family
Your health is our number one priority. Besides finding your best glasses prescription, we are dedicated to evaluate you for glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, diabetes, retinal detachments, high blood pressure, thyroid disorders, dry eyes, and headaches.
What is involved during an eye exam?
There are two distinct and important elements to every visit to our practice.
First, the most important aspect of your visit is to insure quality of life by providing you with a comprehensive, thorough medical examination of your visual system. Many eye diseases that affect your vision have little or no symptoms until the problem has become sight-threatening. Routine eye health examinations are critical to prevent debilitating eye disease.
Second, each comprehensive medical eye exam will include a vision component to analyze and prescribe, if necessary, eye wear or contact lenses to correct your vision.
It may be necessary for your doctor to perform additional special testing to insure the overall systemic health of your eyes.

Alternative to dilation
We recommend the Optomap Retinal Exam for every patient, every year. It is unique in that it gives our doctors a much larger view (200 degrees) of the back of the eye--your retina--than conventional eye exam equipment. The images can be taken without dilating your pupils--a very common procedure which is uncomfortable and inconvenient for many people.
The Optomap image is displayed immediately after being taken, allowing your optometrist to review it quickly and if necessary, refer you to a retinal specialist. Using the Internet, the image can be sent anywhere in the world for a specialist to review. Each Optomap image is as individual as fingerprints or DNA and can provide eye care professionals with a unique view of your health very quickly and comfortably. The Optomap image is captured in less than one second and is immediately available for you and your doctor to review. |
the optomap retinal exam:
· Provides an ultra-widefield view of the retina
· Comfortable, non-invasive, & quick image capture · Will save you about 30 minutes in our office · Helps you understand your eye health. · Provides permanent records for future comparison · Patient can resume normal activities immediately (dilation blurs near vision for 4-6 hours) The fee for this service is $39 and is usually not covered by routine vision plans. The Optomap technology does not require pupil dilation, however the decision to dilate or not is a medical decision to be made by your doctor. |
Refractive Surgery
Do contacts or glasses ever just get in the way?
We would love to discuss your candidacy for lasik or other refractive surgery options with you as an option for vision correction.
If you are seriously considering lasik, let us know that when you schedule your appointment so that we may allow time for any additional tests that may be necessary.
